Falkirk based Horizon Reinforcing and Crane Hire have taken delivery of a new Tadano Faun ATF 220G-5 the first one in Scotland.
This is the flagship machine for Horizon the family run business by Mr Steven Dougall along with his sister Maxine and sons Steven Jnr and David.
Recently the crane of the year in it’s class, the machine boasts 68m of main boom with 13.7m – 37.2m fly jib incorporating a 5.4m heavy duty section capable of lifting over 47t and able to lift over 2t at 72m radius on full boom and 25.2m of fly jib The machine is also fitted as standard with Tadano’s own safety system the ‘Lift Adjuster’ which calculates boom deflection on load ‘take-off’ and automatically alters the boom angle to compensate, resulting in a stable lift with no load sway.
Horizon also deal in the steel reinforcement industry and run a fleet of cranes in the 20t to 220t range.
With several more orders from Horizon and other customers scheduled to be delivered into Scotland this and next year, Cranes UK continue to work hard to generate sales in the country.

At the recent European Distributor Days 2009, TADANO FAUN launched 2 new 5 axle cranes. The so-called ‚G’ (Global) type series was added to with the ATF 130G-5, the truck mounted series by the HK 70.
The ATF 130G-5 with a max. lifting capacity of 130 t is closing the gap between the Worldwide most popular ATF 110G-5/ 160G-5 with 110 t respectively 160 t.
The chassis becomes available either as 10 x 6 x 10 or 10 x 8 x 10 drive/ steer configuration, meaning all-wheel steering with no lifting of an axle essential for the crab steer.
The superstructure is fitted with a 6 section 60 m long boom. The 1 cylinder telescopic system,‘common’ in this crane class size, allows extending to full boom length in just about 400 seconds and provides strong capacity charts throughout.
The boom extension is available from 10/ 18 m to max. 32 m, as a mechanical or hydraulic version, new among the 5 axles.
The ATF 130G-5 extensions integrate a heavy duty jib, in this case 3,8 m, for a max. capacity of 40 t (!) successfully already introduced on the ATF 160/ 220G-5.
‘Cockpit’ upper cab, the easy operable TADANO AML and the utmost safe Liftadjuster are further standard features.
The Taxi’ Version: Within 12 t axle loads, the ATF 130G-5 is ‘on the road’ including 6 t
of the max. 42 t counterweight, the 10/ 18 m extension, 10 x 8 x 10 Chassis, large 445/ 95 R25 (16.00 R 25) tyres, 63 t hook block plus 10 t swivel hook.
After finishing the final tests in Lauf, the prototype will be shipped to Japan, in order to be also internationally introduced.
The HK 70 is the only 5 axle truck-mounted 70 t crane ‚Made in Germany’. Developed upon request and in strong cooperation with Mammoet, it now also became available for other interested parties.
The advantages of fast running truck-mounted cranes are well known, subsequently also
applicable as to the HK 70. Above, the following features are worthwhile mentioning:
With the max. 15 t counterweight, the 9/ 16 m extension, a 32 t hook block plus 10 t swivel hook the total weight is ca. 52 t. The max. permitted weight is 54 t = 2 t spare capacity for further options, lifting tackle etc.
Also the HK 70 is fitted with the ‚Cockpit’ cab a well as the TADANO AML. The superstructure canbe fitted on other standard truck chassis, too.
